About THE charleston tours association

The Charleston Tours Association (CTA) traces its roots back to 1997 when passionate discussions arose about the tourism industry, its growth and the effects on the city. Tourism professionals from all fields came together to provide a united front for our industry and worked with all sides to preserve the vibrant hospitality sector while helping to maintain the city’s quality of life and its heritage.

Today our members are not only tour guides which are certified by the City of Charleston, but also include tour operators, docents, concierges, attractions and museums. We maintain a strong commitment to our industry. We set high standards for ourselves and strive to provide the highest degree of professionalism.

Mentors: If you are interested in becoming a certified guide and would like to be part of our mentorship program, please email:  charlestontourassociation@gmail.com. In your email, please state what areas of touring are you interested in. (i.e.: carriage, bus, walking etc.) and if you are already a certified guide.
